It has been almost 3 years since my last blog post about ice skating in Amsterdam [Frozen Canals]. As the climate is changing, I did not expect to use my ice skates so soon. Another cold front has hit the country and slowly ponds, lakes and canals are freezing up again. Today, I searched my storage room for my pair of skates and went off to hit the ice. I had great fun at the Westerpark, the closest location where I could skate.
As mentioned in 2018, ice skating on frozen canals and lakes can be dangerous and you need to make sure the ice is thick enough. The ice today was not ideal, but it was safe. However, there were some weak spots.
